Liberalism
Senator John Kerry was tagged by the Bushies as being "The Most Liberal Senator," and a lot of people seem to think that was a big part of what kept him from being elected. Especially among religious people. I guess I can understand that. After all, "Liberal" means feeding the hungry, healing the sick, caring for the elderly and children, helping the poor and downtrodden, making peace, being a good steward of the environment.... Wait a minute...where have I heard of all those things before? Oh yeah...THE BIBLE! Now, why do so many religious people dislike liberals, exactly?

Hmmmmm.....
You could be right, which is really sad, because even though I believe in God 100%, I think God has a special fondness for good Athiests....Maybe that's really a core difference between Judaism and Christianity: Jews believe God needs us. Christians believe we need God. That's a bit of an overstatement, and unfair generalization, but I do think it gets at something close to truth.August 5 2005, 14:29:18 UTC 6 years ago

That's it. That's all they care about.

And as for homosexuality, I've studied the Hebrew Bible (what Christians call the Old Testament) in the original Hebrew, and I believe that the so-called prohibitions against homosexuality have been gravely misinterpreted over the centuries. And there's absolutely no mention of lesbianism anywhere.... I suspect that's why shows like "Ellen" can be so popular. Could you imagine an openly gay guy having a *hit* TV show in this country?
